COMMUNIST PARTY USA

#CPUSA100 – Unity. Action. Vision.

Dear John

-

Happy May Day! We hope you are staying healthy.

-

September 2019 through September 2020 marks the 100th Anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party, USA.

-

We are celebrating our unique contributions to US history and to advance the movements for democracy, worker's rights, peace, sustainability, equality, and a socialist future!

-

We are holding a special CPUSA Fund Appeal May 1-8. As part of our centennial celebration, please donate $100 for 100 years of struggle!

-

We are celebrating our contributions for:

-

· African American equality and multi-racial unity. As Civil Rights forerunners, from the defense of the Scottsboro Nine, Civil Right Congress, and defense of Angela Davis and birth of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, to today's Black Lives Matter movement, the struggle for equality has always been central to winning economic and political democracy.

-

· Equal rights for Latinx, Native American, Asian American, and all people of color.

-

· Women's equality, immigrant rights, and people with disabilities.

-

· Peace and demilitarization. During the anti-Vietnam War movement, our members went to jail, lead resistance to the draft, and built free speech movement. Party members – two of the Fort Hood Three – became the first GI's to publicly refuse to deploy to Vietnam. Their heroism connected the issues of free speech to peace!

-

Communists made essential contributions to United for Peace & Justice, the National Youth, and Student Peace Coalition and Veterans for Peace, during US aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan.

-

We have always stood for international solidarity and with people building socialism, including today in China, Vietnam, Cuba, and battling transnational capital.

-

For this, we hope you will consider donating $100 for 100 years of struggle today!

-

· Building the US labor movement, including in the 1930s and 40s in the formation of the Congress of Industrial Organizations, which birthed the modern labor movement, and won the most extensive advances for workers' rights in US history.

-

Communists helped lead rank-and-file movements during the 1970s and 80s through Trade Unionists for Action and Democracy, Labor Today, Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, and Coalition of Labor Union Women. These movements were instrumental in ushering in new progressive labor leadership.

-

Comrades helped lead the nation-wide "Fight for $15" campaign among fast food and other service employees and today among meatpacking and other essential workers fighting to protect themselves, their families, and all of us from greedy bosses and the coronavirus.

-

· Defense and expansion of democracy. We were among the first to warn of the extreme right danger, and have been deeply involved in building the broad movement to defeat it. Defending the right to vote and defeating the extreme-right this November is integral to this fight.

-

Donate $100 today and help us insure another 100 years of struggle and leadership!

-

During these uncertain and scary times, money is tight. This is why International Publishers is offering a 35% discount on the recently published book Let Them Tremble: Biographical Interventions Marking 100 Years of the Communist Party, USA to anyone who donates.

-

Let Them Tremble is a collection of six short biographies of prominent members of the Communist Party, USA – Arnold Johnson, Charlene Mitchell, Gus Hall, Henry Winston, Judith LeBlanc, and W. Alphaeus Hunton.

-

The Communist Party, USA, our Marxist analysis, strategy and tactics, and socialist vision, are needed now more than ever. The COVID19 pandemic and global economic crisis, coupled with the incompetence and callousness of the Trump Administration, is making people think deeply about radical change. Millions are interested in socialism, and more people are joining the CPUSA!

-

Donate today! If you can't donate $100, we hope you will give what you can - $10, $25, or $50!

-

Or send checks payable to CPUSA, 235 W. 23rd St., 7th Fl, New York, NY 10011.

-

Stay safe, stay healthy!

-

We may be physically distant, but we can still practice social solidarity!

-

-

Yours in the struggle,

-

Tony Pecinovsky
