The Atlantic hurricane season is in full swing, and many communities in Latin America have already been impacted, losing their homes, businesses, and access to basic necessities.

Mercy Corps is providing critical relief to many communities affected by these storms — but responding to climate emergencies is not enough.

With team members on the ground and partner organizations, Mercy Corps is working shoulder-to-shoulder to help communities prepare for disasters, withstand the ever-changing climate difficulties, and recover for the better.

As extreme weather events damage and destroy the lives and livelihoods of people around the world, we hope you’ll show up for people facing the brunt of the climate crisis. Will you make a gift to help drive bold action and create more resilient communities?

In Cataño, Puerto Rico, volunteers at Association Pro Juventud y Comunidad de Barrio Palmas, a Mercy Corps Resilience Hub, prepare supplies for distribution.
As the hurricane season shows no sign of stopping, Mercy Corps is working with many countries in the Caribbean to create resilience hubs. In Puerto Rico, 20 resilience hubs equipped with solar energy, potable water storage, communication systems, and emergency kits have been set up to respond when disaster strikes.

Across the Caribbean, Mercy Corps partners continue to push forward emergency preparedness efforts to better equip communities. However, preparing to respond to emergencies is just the first step — we must continue working to ensure communities are able to bounce back and build stronger communities for themselves.

For that to happen, we need your support. Make a gift today to help build more resilient communities around the globe.
