1. Medicine Delivered in Gaza
A shipment with over 4 tons of lifesaving medicines from Americares arrived in Gaza at the end of August. The shipment, which will help fill over 15,000 prescriptions, includes medicines to treat infections, dehydration, asthma and other medical conditions.

2. The Climate Crisis Is a Health Crisis
Americares is at the forefront of addressing the health impacts of the climate crisis. In July 2024, the world recorded its hottest days ever, increasing health risks for everyone, but especially those most in danger of heat-related illness, including pregnant and older people, those working outside or in hot conditions and people with chronic disease including mental illness.
This summer, more than 40 safety net clinics across the U.S., including a mobile clinic in southern Arizona, began creating heat-health action plans to help keep at-risk patients safe when temperatures rise. As part of our broader health focused work, we’re taking steps to protect communities from climate-related health threats and build climate resilience.

3. It’s Climate Week NYC!
Climate Week NYC (Sept. 22-29, 2024) is the largest annual climate event of its kind, bringing together over 600 events in New York City and online. This global gathering of leaders and advocates focuses on accelerating climate action.
Americares will be a part of the action, with Associate Director of Climate and Disaster Resilience Nathaniel Matthews-Trigg speaking at Johnson & Johnson’s panel on "Heatwaves and Health." He will highlight our efforts to develop Heat Health Action Plans at over 40 U.S. clinics through the Climate Health Equity for Community Clinics Program. 4. Americares Brings Critical Resources to Tanzania
In Tanzania, access to quality health care is often limited, putting pregnant women and their babies at risk. Americares is stepping in with a unique five-year project designed to improve health worker training and promote respectful care at every stage of life – from prenatal care and birth to childhood nutrition and family planning. This program, developed with community input, will create a positive cycle of health improvements, benefiting women, children and future generations.
