This is an assault on our health
During an unprecedented public health crisis, Americans deserve protection – not a government putting them at greater risk.

On April 5th, Harvard released new preliminary research showing a possible link between air pollution and higher death rates from COVID-19.
Less than a week later, U.S. COVID-19 deaths reached the highest count of any country in the world.
How did the Trump administration react? By continuing their pattern of ignoring scientific evidence and pushing measures that would allow greater exposure to another dangerous threat to our health. They refused to listen to the scientists and medical experts calling for stronger limits on the particulate pollution that puts our health at risk – and are actively jeopardizing the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards that prevent up to 11,000 premature deaths every year.
We can’t let these attacks on our health and safety stand. Take action today, and demand EPA stop putting American lives in danger.

Here’s a quick rundown of the harmful actions that threaten human health that the Trump administration has launched during this crisis:
On March 18th, just 5 days after President Trump declared a national emergency, EPA published a proposal to restrict the agency’s use of science when setting public health protections – allowing the agency to cast aside many studies, potentially even including vital coronavirus research.
On March 26th, days after the American Petroleum Institute asked EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler to relax requirements, EPA claimed “enforcement discretion” to allow polluters to violate certain public health and environmental protections during the pandemic.
On March 31st, days after the U.S. became the first country to exceed 100,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases, EPA finalized the Clean Cars rollback, causing an estimated 18,500 more premature deaths, 250,000 more asthma attacks, and 350,000 more respiratory ailments by 2050.
On April 14th, Wheeler proposed to go against the recommendations of EPA’s own scientists by refusing to strengthen national health standards for particulate pollution (more commonly known as soot), which is responsible for an estimated 85,000 American deaths every year.
And on April 16th EPA announced the final plan to gut the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards.
Now is the time to rely on science and experts to help protect our communities – not actively undermine them at every turn.
Take action today, and demand the Trump administration walk back these dangerous attacks.
