President Biden has appointed twelve LGBTQ+ federal judges so far.
John, we just broke an important record in the Senate.
We confirmed Mary Kay Costello, the twelfth LGBTQ+ federal judge appointed by President Biden – officially the most LGBTQ+ court appointments of any president in U.S. history! 🏳️🌈
Here’s some even better news: You can help us keep up this momentum by keeping the White House 🔵 and defending our Senate majority. Will you give a $5 contribution right now to make sure Democrats win this November?
Judge Costello has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia for the past fifteen years. Her qualifications, experience, and expertise make her a natural fit to serve as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Judge Costello and all of the LGBTQ+ judges we’ve confirmed under President Biden’s leadership represent a major step forward for diversity in our courts. 🏛️
It’s not rocket science, John: Judges should reflect the diverse makeup of the communities they serve. Judges should come from every background, race, gender, orientation, and identity. It’s the best way to ensure fair and just decisions.
For too long, though, our federal courts have lacked significant diversity for many groups, including the LGBTQ+ community. President Biden and Senate Democrats are bound and determined to change that – and we’re making history as we do it.
But – a majority of Senate Republicans voted no on Judge Costello’s confirmation. Only a handful crossed the aisle to support this talented, qualified, LGBTQ+ judge.
That really says it all, doesn’t it? It’s sad, but true: We will only continue to make this kind of history next year with a Democratic president and a 🔵 Senate.
John, I know you’re with us in the fight to make progress for the LGBTQ+ community and diversify our federal courts. But the GOP is ready to roll back and halt our progress if they take the reins. Please – pitch in $5 now to stop the GOP in their tracks!
