Here in Brazil, I’m watching it unfold: swathes of majestic forest ablaze and thousands of animals like jaguars and sloths forced to flee, choked to death, or incinerated. It’s a living nightmare, John.
Bankers are enabling this devastation. They carelessly sign off multimillion-dollar deforestation deals, as they finance major corporations in sectors like industrial agriculture, palm oil and logging. The expansion of industrial agriculture and our global food system is responsible for 80% of global deforestation and the 28,000 species at risk of extinction.
The Earth without a healthy Amazon will be catastrophic for all of us: we’ll be left without one of our most important global defences against the climate crisis and with catastrophic consequences.
John, we can’t let this happen. Will you become a Greenpeace member today, contributing monthly so we can continue to fight for our planet? Every pound you give makes a huge difference.
