Congress can help close the gap in nutrition for seniors.
Jack,
High grocery prices, increased costs for housing, health care and other
necessities, and the expiration of pandemic-era benefits mean seniors with low
or fixed incomes across the country are paying more for the food they needon
top ofpaying other bills, and doing so with less resources.
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) provides seniors with healthy
foods through monthly food boxes. But this program can only serve as many
seniors as funding provides.
Congress can help reduce hunger among seniors. Tell lawmakers to increase
investments in CSFP and modernize the program in the next farm bill.

The latest USDA data shows that nearly 7 million seniors faced hunger in 2022.
Many older adults don’t have the food they need for a healthy and active
life—but programs like CSFP can help.
CSFP connects seniors with the nutritious food they need to thrive. The
program provides packages filled with fruits, vegetables, healthy grains, meat,
cheese and other foods that help older people stay healthy, active and
independent. What’s more: The Feeding America network is able to serve more
than half a million seniors through the CSFP program. It makes a difference for
seniors everywhere.
Lawmakers must act to make this program as strong as possible to help seniors
facing hunger.Tell Congress: Increase investments in CSFP and modernize the
program in the next farm bill.
