The Left routinely spreads malicious lies to advance their destructive agenda. Yet this time around, their propaganda involves a tragedy in our Peach State.

Over the past few days, liberal politicians and the left-wing media have circulated a false narrative about a young Georgian mother, Amber Thurman. As you may know, Amber passed away in 2022 from an infection following a chemical abortion.

Disturbingly, Democrats — including Vice President Kamala Harris — are exploiting this tragedy to push their radical pro-abortion agenda. They’ve erroneously claimed that Georgia’s pro-life laws are responsible for Amber’s death.

Here’s the truth: A chemical abortion killed Amber — not a pro-life law.

According to reports, Amber obtained the chemical abortion pill regimen, which consists of the drugs mifepristone and misoprostol, from a clinic in North Carolina. After taking the abortion drugs, she faced serious complications and went to the hospital due to her worsening symptoms. The infection and issues caused by taking mifepristone and misoprostol required both antibiotics and surgery. Tragically, Amber did not survive the surgery.

Keep in mind, the Left falsely promises that these abortion pills are safe. In fact, Planned Parenthood touts that abortion medication is “safer than Tylenol.”  

Folks, Amber Thurman’s heartbreaking death was preventable — but it had absolutely nothing to do with our state’s pro-life protections. Had Amber not taken these harmful abortion drugs, she — and the two precious lives she was carrying — would be with us today.

The truth just doesn’t fit the Left’s radical narrative. That’s why they shamelessly fabricate stories and weaponize the murder of unborn children to score political points and mislead the American people.

Desperate, despicable, and downright dangerous.

Please know that I remain an unapologetic champion of life in Congress. After all, as outlined in our nation’s birth certificate — the Declaration of Independence — our first and most fundamental right is the right to LIFE!

You may be pleased to know that last week, the House unanimously passed the Enhanced Presidential Security Act — a bipartisan bill that requires the Secret Service Director to apply equal standards when determining the number of Secret Service agents assigned to protect sitting presidents and major candidates for president and vice president.

As an avid defender of our Second Amendment liberties, I’ve been leading the fight against the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) rule titled “Definition of ‘Engaged in the Business’ as a Dealer in Firearms,” which redefines language pertaining to buying and selling firearms. The radical measure requires private citizens to obtain a federal firearms license, conduct a background check, and complete gun registration paperwork to sell even a single firearm. This lawless government overreach subjects law-abiding Americans to unconstitutional barriers — violating both the Second Amendment and Congress’ sole legislative authority. Ultimately, the goal of the Biden-Harris Administration’s universal background check rule is to create a nationwide firearms registry, which I’ve long warned will eventually lead to gun confiscation.

In response, I recently introduced H.J.Res. 144, a Congressional Review Act (CRA) joint resolution of disapproval to overturn the ATF’s disastrous rule. I’m excited to share that last week, the House Judiciary Committee voted to advance my legislation by a vote of 14-9. This development means that my critical bill — which is direly needed to combat the Biden-Harris Administration’s radical gun control agenda — will soon be considered for a vote on the House floor. I look forward to updating you on this important matter in the coming weeks.

• H. Res. 1469: This resolution ensures the individuals responsible for decision making and execution failures in the disastrous Biden-Harris Afghanistan withdrawal are held accountable, and condemns key figures and officials in the Biden-Harris Administration, including President Biden, Vice President Harris, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby, State Department Secretary Antony Blinken, and others. 
• H.R. 8205, the Keeping Violent Offenders Off Our Streets Act: This legislation amends the federal criminal statute dealing with insurance-related crimes to include corporate, for-profit, and non-profit entities that post bail for defendants, subjecting charitable bail funds to federal insurance fraud laws and state licensing requirements, and requiring their employees to pass criminal background checks.
• H.R. 3334, the Sanctioning Tyrannical and Oppressive People within the Chinese Communist Party Act: This critical bill imposes sanctions on members of the Chinese Communist Party who take part in implementing policies that intend to infringe on Hong Kong’s autonomy, intimidate Taiwan, violate human rights, or promote political oppression within the People’s Republic of China.
