Dear John,

Since 2015, WE ACT for Environmental Justice has been providing award-winning education to youth on environmental justice leadership, foundations of organizing, air quality, toxic products, climate justice, food justice, and more. Through our Environmental Health and Justice Leadership Training program (EHJLT), WE ACT has provided over 800 students with skills and knowledge to be the next generation of environmental leaders.
Our Youth EHJLT program aims to raise public awareness among students about environmental health risks their community is facing, while connecting these issues to broader environmental justice themes and concepts of equity and equip students with the knowledge they need to organize campaigns, initiatives, or projects for a local environmental and social justice movement of their own.

This summer, we teamed up with BioBus to provide a hands-on workshop series for 4th-6th graders at NYCHA’s Manhattanville Community Center, where kids learned about environmental justice and envisioned what their communities could look like in the future. In addition to taking temperature and air pollution readings in the neighborhood, they used what they learned to construct their vision of an ideal playground. Biobus brings scientific programming to kids who are typically excluded from the scientific community due to race, gender, and family income.

WE ACT’s work to build the next generation of environmental justice leaders and bring scientific programming to children in our community is only possible due to the generosity of our supporters. Whether it's $5, $50, or $500, a gift today can go a long way to make a positive impact on children in our communities, whether it helps improve environmental health or provide an enriching educational experience. Will you help support our youth today?
