Thank you to all of you who joined us on Friday for the first of two rallies opposite the United Nations, but our work is far from done.
Prime Minister Netanyahu will be speaking before the UN General Assembly later this week while the safety and security of Israelis and Palestinians deteriorates. Hamas continues to hold over 100 Israeli citizens hostage in Gaza, nearly two million Palestinians remain displaced among the rubble and ruins, facing famine and disease, and Palestinians in the Occupied Territories face unprecedented levels of settler violence, military actions, and forced expulsion. Over 100,000 Israelis are also unable to return home following the October 7th attack and escalations with Hezbollah in the north.
His visit will take place as the number of dead on both sides climbs almost daily. The war in Gaza rages on and has brutally killed over 40,000 Palestinians to date, the majority civilians, and destroyed the lives and livelihoods of millions more. Since October 7th, more than 2,300 Israelis–civilians, hostages, and soldiers–have been brutally killed as Netanyahu continues to stubbornly pursue this war and undercut his own negotiators, sabotaging deal after deal. High-ranking Israeli military and security officials have repeatedly argued that doing so undermines Israel's security and endangers the prospects of returning the hostages alive.
We, who care about the future of Israelis and Palestinians and the prospect of a future peace agreement, refuse to allow this man to continue burning down our future and the future of our children in the name of political self-preservation. The people of Israel, Palestine, and the Middle East deserve leaders who will chart a path toward peace, prosperity, and equal rights for all–not more death and destruction.
