Hi John,

As you may have seen from our previous emails, right now Oregon has an opportunity to protect a healthy climate future and deliver justice for communities by restoring our cornerstone Climate Protection Program (CPP). Will you help restore the CPP today?

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) opened a comment period in August, and has since extended the deadline to September 27th. DEQ needs your input on its proposed rules to restore the CPP, a vital program which will cut fossil fuel emissions 90% by 2050, and invest upwards of $150 million annually in clean energy projects for frontline Oregon communities most impacted by climate damage. Last year, the oil and gas industry sued to overturn the program, derailing these historic climate protections. It’s up to us to restore climate justice without delay!

DEQ is holding a final public hearing this Thursday to hear from people like you. Make sure DEQ knows you want to see a strong restored CPP! The hearing is both in-person in Portland AND virtual on Zoom, RSVP to get the link

WHEN: Thursday, September 26th from 3:20-5:20 pm
WHERE: Lloyd 700 Building (700 NE Multnomah Street, Portland, OR 97232), 3rd floor conference room or via Zoom

RSVP to the CPP Public Hearing!

If you can’t attend the hearing, you still have the opportunity to make your voice heard by sending DEQ a message today. Will you send a message now?

Justice delayed is justice denied. With climate-fueled wildfires, drought, and extreme heat already threatening Oregon families and communities across the state, we cannot afford anything but the strongest climate action. Thank you for joining OLCV in fighting for a healthy future and a stable climate for all.

Sincerely,

Eliza Walton
OLCV Coalition Director
