If you had the chance to watch, you know that this year’s Democratic National Convention was anything but conventional—it was electrifying.
Vice President Kamala Harris’ historic rise to the top of the ticket has reignited our movement and captured the attention of millions across the country. Americans are turning to the Democratic Party to put an end to the madness, the hatred, and the stream of malicious lies coming from Donald Trump and his far-right MAGA allies. The stakes have never been higher.
We must lead from a place of love, empathy, and understanding—the common values that unite us as Americans. Progress is about creating a more perfect union, one where we find common ground and build a society that includes everyone. The alternative? A future where the MAGA playbook divides us with fear, hatred, and misinformation—while a small group of right-wing elites consolidates power and wealth for themselves, leaving the rest of us behind.
This election isn’t just about politics. It’s about the soul of our country. It’s about whether we’ll allow Donald Trump and his MAGA loyalists, like Steve Scalise, to dismantle the inclusive, multiracial, and multigenerational democracy we’ve fought so hard to protect. They seek to destroy everything we stand for—and they’re closer than ever.
I’m not a seasoned politician, but I am fully committed to fighting the bigotry, divisiveness, and hate that threatens our peaceful democracy. This right-wing movement endangers us all. But for some of us, the stakes are even higher. They’re targeting communities like mine—the LGBTQ+ community, Black and brown Americans, immigrants, and women—simply to score cheap political points.
