Giving Tuesday Now is tomorrow! It's a great time to celebrate the giving spirit of the refugees we serve.
Imran came to the U.S. in 2017 on a Special Immigration Visa (SIV) following his service as an interpreter for the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. A tailor who lost his job due to COVID-19 and a father of four, he is donating his time and skills to making face masks in his community of Albany, NY. These masks are now being worn by medical professionals, local Marines delivering food to the needy, and law students providing legal aid to the underserved.
Refugees in Raleigh, NC, who learned to sew in their home countries of Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Pakistan, are also making face masks. So far, these generous women have made over 350 masks! USCRI has helped distribute them to local apartments where many immigrant families live, with guidelines for how to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Thank you to these kind individuals for sharing their talents to keep the rest of us safe! They exemplify the generous spirit of Giving Tuesday Now.
We hope you will join in the giving spirit with a donation to USCRI ([link removed]) in celebration of Giving Tuesday Now. Thank you.
