An open Senate seat in Michigan is a rare opportunity. With the retirement of the great Senator Debbie Stabenow, Republicans will be doing everything they can to win this swing seat and control of the Senate.

I’m running for Senate because we need a new generation of leaders who think differently, work harder, and never forget that we are public servants. Being of service to the American people means bringing passionate, pragmatic leadership to Washington.

Service is something I’ve done my entire adult life — first in the CIA, where I served three tours in Iraq alongside the U.S. military, and later at the White House, State Department, and finally at the Pentagon, as an appointee of President Obama. Thanks to people like you, I’ve served two full terms in Congress, winning three extremely competitive elections in a Republican district.

A contribution of $3 or more today will help us show everyone we'll have what it takes to win this election. Please chip in today to help us raise the resources we need to win in this notorious swing state.

But separate from my national security background, what motivated me to first run in 2018 was much more personal – my mom. She was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer in 2009 – and she didn't have health insurance at the time. She had let it lapse after the insurance companies had gouged her for years because she happened to have a pre-existing condition. She passed away in 2011, but that experience – of desperately trying to get her care at the same moment we were filling out bankruptcy paperwork – fueled me to run when the GOP threatened protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

Now Republicans want to put Social Security and Medicare on the same chopping block. Prescription drug costs continue to spiral out of control, and many have to choose between life-saving medicine and their rent or food. We are not settled, as a nation, on access to healthcare and this issue requires real change in Washington. By winning this Senate seat, we’ll help ensure that Democrats retain the majority and can pass legislation that expands access to healthcare.

Congress desperately needs a new approach to leadership. I would be the youngest Democratic woman in the Senate, if elected. Your contribution of $3 or more today will help us make sure everyone knows what’s at stake in this election.

Thank you. I’m committed to doing everything in my power to be the principled leader that you deserve.

Onward!
