Dear Georgian,

Last Wednesday we celebrated the U.S. Air Force's 77th Birthday! I’m honored to represent the fine men and women of Moody and Robins AFB. Thank y’all for your service!

Friday was National POW/MIA Recognition Day, where we honored the Prisoners of War and those who have not returned home. My Grandfather, Lt. Jack Austin Scott, was a POW for 18 months during World War II. As his grandson, I strive to ensure that the service and sacrifice of our POWs are never forgotten.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. To receive frequent updates, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on X.

Keep reading for the full update.

Sincerely,

Advocating for Relief for Our Farmers After Debby

Georgia's number one industry is agriculture, so the damage inflicted by Tropical Storm Debby wasn't just a blow to our farmers; it was a blow to our state's economy.

Many Georgia farmers purchased supplemental insurance such as the Hurricane Insurance Protection-Wind Index (HIP-WI) Endorsement and Tropical Storm Option to prepare for potential damage from natural disasters. While the USDA indicated that some counties in Georgia were damaged during Debby, they did not include all counties impacted, leaving many farmers without the insurance relief they pay for.

Ware, Lanier, Coffee, Atkinson, Echols, and Berrien counties were within the tropical wind corridor, and additional data provided shows that rainfall in the area was high enough for these counties to receive support following the storm.

These farmers are suffering from the impact, and my colleagues and I sent a letter urging Secretary Vilsack and the USDA’s Risk Management Agency to rectify this issue.

Asking USPS for Assurance of Timely and Secure Ballot Delivery

With the November election approaching, many Georgians have expressed concerns over timely ballot delivery through the USPS. Our state has suffered from serious mail delivery delays, and the USPS is working to address them.

I joined Georgia delegation members in sending a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy expressing concerns with the Atlanta Regional Processing and Distribution Center's (RPDC) ability to process mail-in absentee ballots for the 2024 election and asking what steps they are taking to ensure timely and secure delivery.

Increasing Secret Service Protection for President Trump

President Trump has survived two assassination attempts this year, and it is clear that he needs increased Secret Service protection.

In response to this senseless political violence, last week, the House unanimously passed H.R. 9106, the Enhanced Presidential Security Act.

This legislation directs the Secret Service to use the same standards to determine the number of agents in a protection detail for Presidents, Vice Presidents, and major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates.

I'm thankful for all law enforcement officers who have protected President Trump through both assassination attempts, and I believe that this legislation is a great step to protect all current and future Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates.
