James — Bernie Sanders went live from the Senate floor to call for an end to U.S. support for Netanyahu’s war on Gaza. Next, he will introduce a resolution to STOP the $20 billion U.S. weapons sale to Israel.
Bernie rightfully noted that much of the carnage in Gaza has been carried out with American weapons. He called again for an end to our government’s complicity with the bombing of the Palestinian people.
We must use this as an opportunity to fight for an end to Israel’s campaign of violence.
Stand with Bernie: Support Bernie’s resolution to block weapons sales to Israel. Not another nickel, and not another bomb, for Netanyahu’s immoral war on the people of Gaza.
Bernie is calling for our government to finally make the moral choice, to save lives, and to protect the safety and human rights of the Palestinian people. Because the Biden administration and Congress have spent almost a year backing Netanyahu’s devastating, immoral, horrifying war on Gaza.
Bernie also notes that our government is breaking U.S. and international law by continuing to support Netanyahu’s regime.
The law requires that “arms transfers must be consistent with internationally-recognized human rights, advance U.S. foreign policy interests, and avoid the association of the United States with any human rights violations. These sales clearly fall short on each measure.” Yet, neither the law nor the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza has slowed the Biden administration support for Israel in any meaningful way.
Congress must act to protect human rights and uphold the law. They must join and pass Bernie’s resolution.
