In Celebration of International Respect for Chickens Day, We Are Announcing a
New UPC Podcast
With all of our community outreach events canceled due to the coronavirus
crisis, UPC is finding new and creative ways to share our message about chickens
and to celebrate International Respect for Chickens Day. To reach people who are
staying safely at home, we are introducing a new podcast, Hope for the Animals!
The number of people listening to podcasts has grown exponentially in the last
five years and over 67 million people in the U.S. listen to at least one podcast
a month. This podcast will help UPC connect to an entirely new audience,
especially young people who make up the majority of podcast listeners. Our
podcast will be heard on numerous hosting sites like iTunes, Spotify,
iHeartRadio, and more.
There are some distinct advantages to podcasts over other forms of media.
Videos, webinars, online workshops, and articles all require you to stare at a
screen. With a podcast, you can listen while exercising, cleaning the house,
driving, gardening, etc., offering a break from the increased screen time as we
shelter at home.
UPC's Hope for the Animals will cover a variety of farmed animal issues
including the ethical, environmental, spiritual, heartbreaking, and heartwarming
aspects of living vegan. In every episode, we will have engaging conversations
with special guests on the critical reasons for living a vegan lifestyle
covering issues such as the humane hoax, effective communication and outreach in
animal advocacy, and current events that are relevant to the protection of
animals. We hope you will enjoy this fresh and innovative form of outreach and
help us by sharing it with your online community.
Listen to our first episode in which Hope interviews UPC's founder and president
Karen Davis. Karen discusses UPC's 30-year anniversary, the wet markets and
their connection with disease, the current surge of interest in animal-free
foods, International Respect for Chicken's Day and many other insightful topics
that can help us in our endeavor toward protecting and respecting beautiful and
highly sensitive chickens. Please tune in!
