John,

Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.

Like you, I am deeply concerned about the safety of President Donald J. Trump in the wake of repeated attempts made on his life. Last weekend, a man attempted to assassinate President Trump in Florida. Thankfully, the Secret Service was able to thwart his plans before the shooter could carry out his deadly attack. However, it remains troubling that more resources are not dedicated to protecting President Trump. The level of protection must be based on the threat level to the official or candidate being targeted, regardless of whether they’re a current office holder, especially a former president. To ensure the safety and security of President Trump and to preserve our democratic process, the Secret Service must provide him with the same protective detail as the sitting president.

Since the assassination attempt in Butler, House Republicans have pressed the FBI and Homeland Security, demanding increased security measures for President Trump. The rally's failures—from lack of resources to poor communication and planning—left him extremely vulnerable. Meanwhile, Biden, Harris, and Mayorkas have been all talk, no action. Even in high-risk situations, little has been done to improve President Trump’s safety. This is not just about President Trump—it’s about the integrity of our democracy and electoral process. The local sheriff and Secret Service admitted they lacked resources in Palm Beach, citing his status as a “former president.” Protection isn’t about titles; it’s about ensuring safety. Had the Secret Service, Biden administration, and Homeland Security acted swiftly and transparently, it would have served as a strong deterrent against would-be attackers. Instead, their silence puts more than just one man at risk—jeopardizing our constitutional republic. I joined “Mornings with Maria” on Fox Business to discuss further. Click here or below to watch.

The media consistently downplays critical issues, from policy failures to assassination attempts on President Trump. I joined Newsmax to discuss the latest assassination attempt. Click here or below to watch.

I joined “News Central” with Boris Sanchez on CNN to discuss the state of political discourse and the assassination attempt. Click here or below to watch.

Additionally, I joined RJ Harris on WHP-580 to discuss the assassination attempt. Click here or below to listen.

During my appearance on "Mornings with Maria" on Fox Business, I also discussed the media bias against President Trump and the lengths they will go to prop up Kamala. The local ABC news affiliate in Philadelphia heavily edited their coverage of Kamala's answer regarding her plans to fix the economy. Click here or below to watch my interview.

Of course, the reality is that Kamala's plan to "fix" the economy is to raise taxes drastically. While Donald Trump will fight to lower taxes, cut burdensome regulations, and implement pro-growth initiatives, Kamala Harris supports a top-down, big government approach that will crush working families. Did you know that Kamala’s tax plan will cost the average Pennsylvania family an additional $2,394 a year? Click here or below to learn more.

While the Constitution says only U.S. citizens can vote, the SAVE Act prohibits bad actors from registering non-citizens to vote and requires states to purge their voter rolls of all illegal immigrants. Any no votes on this bill as it comes before the House tonight implies to the American people why the Biden-Harris Administration left the border open in the first place…. for potentially more votes.

The American people want this bill to pass, which will help restore their confidence in our elections. I urge my colleagues to do the right thing in a bipartisan manner and ensure that only U.S. citizens can register for and vote in federal elections. We must pass the SAVE Act. I spoke on the floor this week in support. Click here or below to watch.

Using a Continuing Resolution to fund the government rather than passing a full budget is certainly not preferred (nor an action I typically support). CRs are a short-term fix to prevent a government shutdown but do little to address the necessary responsible spending reductions.

In a time of growing concern over election integrity and government inefficiencies, it’s negligent that both the SAVE Act and a proper budget are caught in political gridlock. Americans deserve both secure elections and an efficiently functioning government, but this ongoing stalemate leaves both in jeopardy.

Unfortunately, rather than delivering to the Senate a short-term CR with the SAVE Act, the House will now be faced with a “clean” CR—a CR without the SAVE Act—a measure that is now likely to pass without my support. This Congress should be focused on securing outcomes that are in the best interest of the American people, and that can be reached considering the reality of a Democrat Senate and White House.

Additionally, I spoke on the floor of the U.S. House in support of H.R. 4790, which passed this week. The legislation defends American businesses from foreign regulatory overreach and ensures investors’ freedom to choose what to do with their own wealth. My bill, the Protecting U.S. Business Sovereignty Act, was included to help protect U.S. investors from European overreach. Click here to watch my remarks.

IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: The devastation of Kamala's border crisis is being felt nationwide. Illegal immigrants are raping and murdering American citizens.

BORDER CZAR HARRIS FAILED TO SECURE THE BORDER

HARRIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN RADICAL ON IMMIGRATION

  • Harris wants to make every state a “sanctuary state.”
  • Harris backs mass amnesty for millions of illegals already in the country.
  • Harris supports decriminalizing illegal border crossings.
  • Harris thought Barack Obama deported too many illegal immigrants.
  • Harris compared ICE officers to the KKK and said we need to start "from scratch" with the agency that arrests and deports rapists and killers.
  • Kamala supports taxpayer-funded health care coverage for illegal immigrants, including taxpayer-funded gender transition surgery.
  • Kamala wants to shut down immigration detention centers and release thousands of criminals.
  • Kamala said a border wall is "medieval" and mocked the idea that terrorists would take advantage of our southern border.
  • As a senator, Kamala urged the Senate not to fund additional Border Patrol personnel.

The U.S. Small Business Administration under the Biden-Harris administration continues to fail small businesses and the American people. By eliminating prudent lending standards, they’ve driven up early loan defaults, costing the program over $130 million. Under SBA Administrator Guzman, reckless policies have caused default rates to soar, leaving small businesses struggling and the American Dream further out of reach. This week, I questioned Administrator Guzman on how the SBA can claim this past year was a “good year” when the numbers clearly tell a different story. Click here or below to watch.

Financial transactions are becoming increasingly digital, so financial institutions have stepped up to protect consumers by developing critical tools to combat fraud. The private sector has invested heavily in defending their customers, and at another hearing this week, I asked what is being done to stop scammers from taking advantage of Americans across Pennsylvania and the country. I was pleased to receive the 2024 Small Business Guardian Award from NFIB. Protecting Main Street remains a top priority, and I will keep fighting for America’s small businesses in Congress.

I met with TE Connectivity CEO Terrence Curtin, GC John Jenkins, and SVP Jeanne Quirk to discuss their footprint in Pennsylvania’s 9th District. As a $16 billion leader in industrial technology, TE Connectivity’s engineering solutions are vital for industries like automotive, aerospace, and medical devices. With 2,700 employees in Pennsylvania, including 510 at their Lickdale facility in Lebanon County, their footprint in our district is significant. We also discussed how to keep strong companies that support American jobs competitive globally and how to best counter China’s malign influence on our supply chains.

Meeting with the Chesapeake Energy Corporation in my Washington office was great. Chesapeake is a leading energy producer with a large footprint in Pennsylvania’s 9th District. Their Marcellus Shale operations account for over 5% of total U.S. natural gas production, with hundreds of active wells in our region. We discussed their operations and the tax challenges facing the energy industry. Supporting Pennsylvania's energy production is crucial for our commonwealth’s economy and our American energy security.

On this day, 237 years ago, our founding fathers signed the final draft of the United States Constitution, laying the foundation for our nation's freedom and success. Today, we remember their vision by continuing to uphold and defend the principles that have guided us ever since. Happy Constitution Day!

Friday was National POW/MIA Recognition Day. We honor the brave service members who were held as prisoners of war and those still missing in action. We must never forget the great sacrifices of these patriots who put service and country above self.

For the first time in nearly 30 years, the Teamsters won’t be endorsing the Democrat nominee for President. The numbers show that Teamsters overwhelmingly support President Trump, and they know he stands with the hard-working men and women who keep this country moving. Donald Trump fights for blue-collar Americans, which is why the majority of the Teamsters’ 1.3 million members will be voting to Make America Great Again in November!

American workers want to support a candidate with an agenda based on Making America Great Again. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris is focused on one mission—Stopping Donald Trump. That's not leadership; that is not a platform, and that is why the majority of Teamsters and working men and women want President Donald Trump back in the White House.

Bob Asher, Aaron Cohen, and Mike Barley hosted a great fundraiser for me at the Union League Liberty Hill on Monday. Thank you to all who attended and donated. Bob Asher is a Pennsylvania Republican legend, and I am so proud to have his continued support.

It was great to join my colleagues Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Rep Brad Wenstrup, and Rep Max Miller in the Lehigh Valley today to support Ryan Mackenzie, a great candidate running in the 7th congressional district. We must keep and grow our majority for the next Congress, and we will do that with the great Republican candidates across the state.

Planning to vote... do it now and Swamp the Vote! In Pennsylvania, it is time to request your mail-in and absentee ballots. Click here or below to get more information.
