John,
On the state and federal levels, my home state of Michigan holds the keys to a future of economic, racial, and environmental justice. But only if we fight for it.
We must defeat Donald Trump, win back the U.S. House of Representatives, and maintain Democrats’ narrow control of the U.S. Senate.
Republicans’ racist attacks on immigrants and communities of color have no place in American politics or the halls of Congress. In a Senate hearing last week about the rise of hate crimes in the United States, Senator John Kennedy attacked the Muslim Executive Director of the Arab American Institute with Islamophobic and anti-Arab rhetoric. Trump and his Vice Presidential pick, Senator JD Vance, have spread hateful lies about Haitian immigrants that have resulted in violent assaults and multiple bomb threats in an Ohio community, threatening all immigrants and all Black people in our country.
And just last week, I had to stand up on the House floor, speaking out against the continued erasure of the Palestinian people by opposing a bill that would erase Palestine from products made by Palestinians on Palestinian farms.
I created the Rooted in Community Leadership PAC to stand up to hate and to elect anti-war working-class candidates. We’re supporting candidates who are not afraid to speak truth to power, demand human rights for all, and stand up to the billionaire bullies who pollute our politics with their attacks on our democracy and on marginalized communities.
With early voting starting in states across the country and with just over 6 weeks until Election Day, please rush a contribution today to power our work to elect pro-ceasefire Democrats up and down the ballot—from Detroit to Lansing to Washington, DC.
Our electoral work is not just on the federal level. In Michigan, Democrats hold a narrow one-seat majority in the State Legislature and a one-seat majority on the Supreme Court―both of which are critical to protecting abortion rights and workers’ rights.
The Michigan Supreme Court will be ruling on issues ranging from reproductive healthcare to the minimum wage to sick leave, so we need to make sure that voters vote up and down their ballot, not just on races for president and Congress.
Together, we’re standing up to hate, bigotry, and the influence of MAGA billionaires in our elections. We’re doing the hard work of knocking on doors and speaking with voters about the issues that impact our communities. And we’re working to elect candidates who reflect our values of peace and love, not hate and division.
Rush a donation to our Rooted in Community Leadership PAC today to create a future that is of, by, and for the people—not the billionaires and corporate interests.
