Dear Friend,

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday Now, a day created to support the efforts of organizations fighting the devastating impact of the global pandemic. We’re doing our part by relentlessly advocating for the release of LGBTQ and HIV-positive asylum seekers who are at grave risk of contracting COVID-19 while detained. Right now, we’re celebrating the release of two clients living with HIV—Iván and Ramón—who were just released from ICE detention!

This week, our goal is to fundraise $5,000—enough to represent two more asylum seekers. It costs an estimated $2,500 for each client we represent, including staff hours to fight for their freedom, phone call charges from detention centers, important documentation fees, and more. If you help us get to our goal of $5,000, we can afford to take on two more clients and fight for their freedom, just like we did for Iván and Ramón.

Join our efforts by starting a Facebook fundraiser for Immigration Equality or making a direct donation.

Iván and Ramón following their release from ICE detention.

While in ICE detention, every day became a matter of life or death for Iván and Ramón. So with our client's lives at stake, we doubled down on our advocacy efforts. We immediately filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security, teamed up with Lambda Legal to demand their release, and gathered a thousand of your signatures for our petition to ICE.

Iván and Ramón no longer have to fear for their lives in ICE detention and are on the path to asylum. We are so ecstatic for them and are celebrating their new beginning. At the same time, we know our work is far from over. Will you help us reach our goal of $5,000 this Giving Tuesday Now so we can help other asylum seekers?

Right now, a donor is matching all new gifts, meaning everything you and your fundraiser gives Immigration Equality will be DOUBLED in impact.

No one should have to fear for their lives. Help us fight back against ICE's inhumane treatment for those living in detention centers by supporting us this Giving Tuesday Now.

Thank you,
