For the green left, the COVID economy is a dream come true.

InfluenceWatch (5/1/20) Podcast: "You’ve heard of the Green New Deal, that radical, socialist makeover of the American economy proposed by the hardline wing of the environmentalist movement. More than a few people—including this podcast, last week—have noted that the economy envisioned by the Green New Dealers resembles the economy of…right now, in the middle of government-ordered shutdowns of all forms of normal human interaction that have put over 30 million people into the unemployment lines. Joining us to discuss that truth is Tom Pyle, president of the Institute for Energy Research."

"The Trump administration should be applauded for pumping the brakes on the Obama-era increase in CAFE stringency. The idea that consumers would be better off by restricting their freedom to choose—the presumption at the heart of strict CAFE standards—is false."

How about all those Red China solar panels plugged into the grid?  Oh, and ones made in other countries by Red China-owned Companies?

E&E News (5/4/20) reports: "President Trump has moved toward a new conflict with China over trade and security with an executive order Friday that seeks to ban foreign equipment that poses an unacceptable security risk to the U.S. power grid. China is not mentioned in the order, which directs the Energy Department to identify foreign-made grid controls, transformers and other components that the government determines create an "unusual and extraordinary threat" to U.S. national security, public safety and foreign policy (Greenwire, May 1). According to a senior DOE official Thursday, the order was not based on a specific new threat but responded to long-running campaigns by Russian- and Chinese-linked hacking teams to penetrate U.S. energy facilities with dangerous malware. Trump's action parallels his sharp criticism of China's government for not revealing the grave public health threat the novel coronavirus posed when it first broke out there. A ban on China's widely used grid controls and equipment would open a new front in the economic conflict pressed by administration trade hawks who demand that Beijing be held accountable for years of cybertheft of U.S. technology — charges Chinese officials have repeatedly denied."
