After the 9/11 attacks of my senior year of high school, I went off to the Naval Academy at 17-years old. Like so many veterans of my age, I felt the strong call to serve, to defend this country.

That service took me all over the world: two deployments at sea and a tour on the ground in Iraq. That decision to serve changed my life and still impacts me today, just as it does for so many of my fellow veterans.
I took an oath to defend and serve our Constitution and this country. So when I saw people who call themselves “patriots” storm the Capitol to overthrow our government and the results of the 2020 presidential election, I was furious.
I refuse to stand by and let election deniers and conspiracy theorists take control of our government. I’ll fight day in and day out to defend our democracy, our right to vote, and every freedom that we hold dear.

I learned a simple lesson when I was in the Navy, in Iraq, and at sea: Ship, Shipmate, Self.
