<[link removed]>Friend,
In last week’s debate, Kamala Harris confronted Trump over his “concepts of a plan” for healthcare in her closing remarks.
She told the millions of Americans watching that night: “Donald Trump doesn’t have a plan for you.”
What Harris failed to mention is… she doesn’t have a plan for you, either.
If you scroll through the issues section of the Kamala Harris 2024 website, you’ll find a platform thin on details and thick on sweeping promises to those who are already financially stable – like tax credits for first-time home buyers and handouts to already-financially-stable entrepreneurs.
But that’s not the reality for the majority of Americans who don’t even have enough savings to withstand a $400 emergency.
That’s why my team and I have put together a comprehensive economic plan that will fundamentally reorder our economy and center the needs of working people FIRST – policies that will directly put money in your pocket.
When Harris talks about “strengthening the Affordable Care Act” she means adding more processes and loopholes to allow you to pay for increasingly expensive, functionally unusable private health insurance plans.
By contrast, our healthcare plan is very simple: We will expand Medicare to cover EVERYONE as a stepping stone to a true national healthcare system. No deductibles, no copays, no mandatory minimums. Just healthcare.
Harris’ plan for housing is no better. Her proposal for a tax credit for first time home buyers sounds good on the surface – until you wade through a laundry list of caveats and qualifying requirements.
For example, to access her benefits for first-time-homebuyers, you first need the disposable income to front the money for that “tax credit.” Of course, that’s assuming you’re in a position to buy a home at all, something that is nowhere near the reality for over 100 million Americans trapped in an exploitative rental market increasingly controlled by corporate landlords.
OUR housing policy includes repealing the Faircloth Amendment to immediately expand the construction of quality public housing – with five times as many housing units as the Harris plan proposes. Our plans also provide guaranteed tenant protections to MILLIONS of renters, including universal rent control, reining in excessive rental deposits, and clamping down on corporate ownership.
While the Harris “plan” for workers involves corporate investments and “incentivizing” employers to treat people right, OUR labor plan has concrete plans for a mandatory federal living wage of at least $25 an hour, strengthening unions, and a vast expansion of worker protections that lower your costs and increase your take-home pay.
The bottom line is this: neither Donald Trump nor Kamala Harris has anything more than “concepts of a plan” to provide material relief for you and your family.
You can read our platform <[link removed]> and see for yourself all the ways in which our plans put money right back in your pocket with direct policies prioritizing the needs of working people.
We are down to the last six weeks of this campaign, and there are still tens of millions of undecided voters. We need your support today to reach voters across the country who are looking for real, concrete solutions with a clear vision for collective human thriving. Can you donate today? <[link removed]>
In solidarity and gratitude,
Jill
