All five — Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania — are on our list of priority states. And for good reason!

State legislatures have proven to be key to enacting new redistricting reforms, strengthening existing redistricting reforms, and providing a critical check on Republican attempts to gerrymander. The outcomes in these races will make a measurable impact on people’s everyday lives — and the long-term fight for fairness and fundamental rights.

With these elections coming down to the wire, we need your help. We have to flip chambers in Arizona and New Hampshire. We have to stop Republicans from flipping chambers in Michigan and Minnesota. And we have to do both in Pennsylvania — flip the State Senate and defend the House.

Here’s what you need to know about the state of the race:

• Arizona: If we flip just two seats each in the State House and Senate, Democrats will take control and be able to strengthen the state’s redistricting process.
• Michigan: Republicans are trying to take back the State House and end the Democratic trifecta we helped win in 2022. If they do, they could attempt to roll back progress on fair maps by targeting the state’s independent redistricting commission.
• Minnesota: Democrats won a trifecta in 2022, enacting Gov. Tim Walz’s bold agenda. Republicans only need to flip five seats to gain control of the State House and block all the amazing progress we’ve seen there this year.
• New Hampshire: Democrats need to win majorities in the State House and Senate to prevent Republicans from engaging in mid-cycle partisan gerrymandering.
• Pennsylvania: If we can protect the House Democratic majority and flip the Republican-controlled State Senate, we will achieve another Democratic trifecta.
