Hi John.
I understand Kansans depend on a strong U.S. Postal Service. Hardworking Kansans need the USPS to get their paychecks, medications, and critical packages.
But like many of you, I'm concerned about the state of our region's postal service. Many local families and businesses have shared their experiences with me. Folks are seeing delayed deliveries, missing mail, and much more.
This is unacceptable, and it's time to fix it.
That's why I'm working with Republicans and Democrats in Kansas and Missouri to push for progress. Click here to learn more about our bipartisan effort.
You can watch this new report from local KMBC9 for an update on our bipartisan effort.
Recently, the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of the Inspector General released a report on the Kansas City’s postal processing center’s operations. Their report confirmed the concerns my colleagues and I have been hearing from so many folks. The Inspector General found many deficiencies that have led to poor service, including staffing shortages and inadequate management.
The Inspector General recommended taking concrete steps to address the situation. My colleagues and I are now pushing the Postal Service leadership to adopt those reforms.
While there’s more work to do, I’m glad that Republicans and Democrats – in both Kansas and Missouri – are coming together to address this situation. The U.S. Postal Service exists to serve everyone, regardless of party, and we should approach this issue in the same way.
That’s why I worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass the bipartisan Postal Service Reform Act into law. It provides support to postal workers, improves transparency, and requires six-day mail delivery for mail and packages. I’ve also worked with Kansas Senator Moran to push for answers regarding mail service issues in Kansas.
It’s an honor to serve you and your family in the U.S. House of Representatives. If you have any questions or would like to share your views, feel free to contact me.
My warmest regards,
Sharice L. Davids Member of Congress
