Hurricane Francine Recovery Update
As South Louisiana continues to assess the damages from Hurricane Francine, it is critical that we have the right resources to help people and communities rebuild and recover. Shortly after the storm, I joined our entire Congressional delegation in urging President Biden to approve Governor Jeff Landry’s request for an expedited major disaster declaration. Thankfully, that request was granted for Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne Parishes.
This major disaster declaration covers a number of parishes that received some of the greatest impact, and additional parishes may be added to this list as damage estimates continue to come in from individual communities and parishes. I’ve spoken directly with local, state and federal officials, and will continue to work to ensure the communities and families impacted by this storm have the resources they need to fully recover.
