John,
The Biden-Harris administration closed the loophole in Medicare that allowed prescription drug corporations to drain an extra $100 billion from the Medicare trust fund through price-gouging.
Republicans hate this―and they’re telling reporters that scrapping Medicare drug price negotiation is a top priority if they win Congress.
Sign our petition to Congress: Hands off Medicare drug price negotiation!
Congress shouldn’t take away the $1.5 billion in out-of-pocket costs that people enrolled in Medicare are expected to save in 2026 alone, the first year of the program. And Republicans want to take the $100 billion Medicare will save over the first ten years of Medicare drug price negotiation and use that to line the pockets of Big Pharma.
Seniors already spend one-third of every Social Security check on health care costs, with medications eating up most of that. Every time Big Pharma raises drug prices, it cuts into our earned benefits. That’s why we need to fight to keep lowering prescription drug prices!
We need to act BEFORE the election to make it crystal clear to every member of Congress that letting Big Pharma go back to price-gouging seniors is a non-starter. Add your name today!
Thanks,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
