John, I owe you an explanation about my FEC deadline in 10 days:

After midnight on September 30, my team will submit a public report to the Federal Election Commission with all of our fundraising information since July 1.

It will say everything about Democratic enthusiasm since Vice President Kamala Harris became our nominee. You can imagine why it would be bad for us to fall short of our goal. What it would say.

But this isn’t just about the numbers we report on a piece of paper.

Every time my campaign team books a flight or reserves a hotel for me to campaign, it comes out of our campaign account.

So you can also imagine how many $5, $10, and $20 donations it takes just for us to be able to purchase one roundtrip flight or rent a car.

But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I don’t take contributions from corporate lobbyists or executives in Big Pharma and the fossil fuel industry.

I don’t represent them. I represent people like you who believe in a more just, loving country.
