This week, the House of Representatives considered H.R. 5717, the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act. This legislation would prohibit all federal funds intended to benefit illegal aliens in cities and states that withhold the federal immigration status of migrants from federal immigration officials. I voted for this bill, which passed 219-186, because sanctuary states and cities absolutely should be disincentivized from refusing to follow our nation’s immigration laws.
While this legislation is a small step in the right direction, there is still much to be done to clean up the migrant mess created by the Bide-Harris administration. Ever since Vice President Harris was appointed as the so-called “border czar” more than two years ago, we have seen a rampant influx of illegal aliens heading to blue states that refuse to cooperate with federal authorities. This has increasingly put Americans at unnecessary risk of migrant crime. Simply put: Americans should not have to live like this, and I will continue to fight for legislation that disincentivizes illegal immigration and secures our border.
REP. GAETZ DEMANDS ANSWERS ON SECOND ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT OF PRESIDENT TRUMP
On Sunday, the FBI confirmed there had been a SECOND assassination attempt on President Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Experts warned this would happen again!
During a House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance hearing on Wednesday, I questioned the Executive Associate Director of Homeland Security Investigations, Katrina Berger, over what her agency knew about Ryan Routh, the second Trump would-be assassin, prior to his attempt on the former President’s life.

Low and behold, Director Berger could not answer if her agency had declined to investigate Ryan Routh prior to the incident in question! Her testimony speaks for itself—Homeland Security has some serious questions to answer.
We need to know why this keeps happening in order to prevent an incident like this from ever reoccurring. I will continue to press for answers and will be praying for President Trump’s continued safety.

On Thursday, I appeared on Breitbart News Daily Radio with Mike Slater to drop a bombshell report on the five assassination teams that are actively targeting the life of President Trump. According to information I received from a senior Homeland Security official, these five teams are operating in our own country!
To make matters worse, requests for President Trump to have additional security went unanswered and some people were even taken off his Secret Service detail! It may be time to consider private augmentation of President Trump’s security team so that we can keep him safe.

REP. GAETZ DEMANDS BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION RELEASE 2025 PRELIMINARY PREMIUM DATA
On Tuesday, I sent a letter to U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure demanding answers for the unprecedented decision to withhold Medicare Part D preliminary premium information during the 2025 season.
First, Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate to pass the flawed Inflation Reduction Act. Next, the cost of Medicare Part D increased by 21 percent with bid rates are expected to spike another 180 percent in 2025. Now, the Biden-Harris administration is hiding critical data from senior citizens to cover up their failed policies in an election year.
Additionally, I penned an op-ed in The Floridian in response to CMS not releasing the critical data senior citizens rely on to plan their Medicare Part D enrollment for the following year. The op-ed also addresses how the Inflation Reduction Act is increasing prices for seniors rather than reducing them as the Biden-Harris administration promised.

On Monday, I attended a House Armed Services Committee field hearing at the University of California Santa Cruz Silicon Valley Campus to discuss the views of several tech industry experts on the Department of Defense’s (DoD) acquisition of our military’s newest technology.
Our government stifles innovation and rewards waste by giving “full-system performance” contracts to only the top five defense contractors. Who thought it was a good idea to give the biggest defense companies the exclusive right to fix the problems they created? The various witnesses agreed that there is revolving-door of corruption at the DoD!

During Wednesday’s House Armed Services Committee hearing, I spoke with Former Rep. Jane Harman and Former Ambassador Eric Edelman regarding the future of our Nation’s defense strategy.
I began by questioning Ambassador Edelman on the capabilities of Chinese hypersonic missiles compared to their U.S. counterparts. Ambassador Edelman confirmed that China can hit moving targets with their hypersonic missiles, while we cannot! This is a national security risk that should concern each and every member of Congress.
If we want to discuss military hardware capabilities, why is Congress content with only 29 percent of purchased F-35 fighter jets being fully mission-capable? How does it serve our national defense strategy to continually buy F-35s that are functionally paperweights? Former Rep. Harman stated that she believes our military needs LESS of a focus on hardware acquisition, but she couldn’t name a single thing to cut!
Furthermore, there are currently billions of dollars worth of U.S. equipment sitting unused in Ukraine that our poor end-use monitoring makes difficult to track. Despite this, national defense strategy advisors have no plan for the possibility of our hyper-lethal equipment entering the black market.

On Thursday, I attended a House Armed Services Subcommittee hearing on the oversight of “extremism” policies in the Army. The U.S. Army has wrongly told more than 10,000 soldiers that expressing pro-life views might make them terrorists!
Lieutenant General Patrick Matlock refused to tell Congress whether anyone was fired, suspended, or demoted for screwing up this badly. I would start fencing money for the U.S. Army until we get those answers!

REP. GAETZ RESPONDS TO CISPES’ ATTACK ON EL SALVADOR CAUCUS
As the Chair of the Congressional El Salvador Caucus, I gave a statement on Friday responding to an op-ed from “The Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador” (CISPES), which baselessly accused my caucus of “whitewashing human rights abuses.”
While the caucus has drawn attention to the many human rights abuses by gangs, such as MS-13, and the successful operations by the government of El Salvador to restore law and order, CISPES has ignored the anarcho-tyranny of the gangs. Instead, they have attacked the lawful and necessary security measures installed by the El Salvadoran government and President Bukele.
Where was CISPES when dozens of innocent people were being murdered per day in El Salvador? Where was CISPES when El Salvador was the most dangerous country in the world? If CISPES truly stood in “solidarity” with the people of El Salvador, they would support President Bukele’s state of exception, which the people of El Savador support by over 90 percent.

The Department of State’s Online Passport Renewal (OPR) system is now available to the American public 24/7! Millions of Americans can now renew their passports online at their convenience and from the comfort of their own homes. OPR is a secure and paperless process that makes it easier for Americans to renew their passports by eliminating the need to print a paper application, use a check, and physically mail their application.

The Congressional App Challenge is a public effort to encourage kids to learn how to code. Students compete to code original applications for the chance to be selected for recognition, win prizes, and have their work put on display in the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
Official registration for the 2024 Congressional App Challenge is now open! Students can register for the 2024 Congressional App Challenge and start coding their apps for 2024 using the link below. The competition deadline is October 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. CT.
- Students must be in middle or high school by the time the competition ends on October 24, 2024
- Students can participate in teams of up to four (and can submit multiple apps with a different “team lead”)
- Apps can be coded on any platform, in any language, on any theme

“There is only one important constitutional role the Vice President does play: presiding over the Senate and casting tie-breaking votes. And boy, does she brag about being the tie-breaking vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). It’s true: Without Harris, the IRA wouldn’t be law. But frankly, it would be better for seniors in America if Harris had never been Vice President. Why? Well, under the IRA, which is now law, Democrats added out-of-pocket caps on Medicare Part D costs. Sounds great, right? But the caps can’t work by themselves. It does no good to a senior to have prices for insulin be capped at $35 per month if the premium doubles or triples. You’re saving a few bucks a month in order to spend hundreds more per year for coverage—robbing Peter to pay Paul.”
