I’m reaching out to you from Michigan because my friend, Elissa Slotkin, needs our help to win this state’s crucial Senate seat .



So, what’s a guy from Jersey doing on the campaign trail in Michigan?

The answer is simple: Leadership is something I spend a lot of time thinking about, and Elissa is a principled leader who has spent her entire career in public service — as an analyst in the CIA who served alongside the military in 3 tours in Iraq, as a national security expert who served in the White House under two presidents, and now as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives serving the people of Michigan’s 7th district.

I know she’ll continue to be a persistent, thoughtful, and principled leader when she joins me in the U.S. Senate.

But that’s only if we all come together to make sure she wins in battleground Michigan. Election experts have rated Michigan as a toss-up, so she’ll need every bit of help we can spare to keep the state blue.

To top it off, this race may decide which party controls the Senate next year. If we lose here, you can pretty much pencil in a Republican-controlled Senate.
