General Election Canvass for Shaun Scott
This Sat. 9/21, 11am

 B.F. Day Playground: RSVP

 This Sun. 9/22 11am

Wallingford Playfield: RSVP

The general election is just 7
weeks away! These past two weekends, we’ve kicked off our field operation for the general, emphasizing Shaun’s socialist policy platform. Shaun’s commitment to fighting budget cuts and fully funding our public schools by taxing the ultra-rich and big business, resonated powerfully with voters across the spectrum. Recently the Seattle School Board announced its planning on closing up to 21 Elementary schools - the biggest closure of schools in the country! We can’t wait to hit the doors again this week to send a working class champion to Olympia this November!

Last weekend, the Seattle Times endorsed his right-wing, pro-corporate Democratic Party opponent Andrea Suarez. The endorsement piece praises Suarez as a “maverick”, sanitizes the history of her corrupt and destructive non-profit WeHeartSeattle, refers to Shaun as an extremist, and highlights Seattle DSA’s endorsement of Shaun Scott. We’re going to have to fight back as pro-corporate and pro-developer forces align behind Andrea Suarez.

Who is Shaun Scott? Read more about him here.

Picket with the Boeing Machinists in Seattle!

THE BOEING MACHINISTS FIGHT ON, AND SDSA IS THERE WITH THEM

This Saturday, 9/21

Between 12 - 6pm

It is now Week 2 of the strike as members of IAM 751 fight for a better contract that ensures a living wage, the return of their pensions, better healthcare and safer working conditions.
While Boeing has paid $817 million over the past decade to executives and $68 billion to shareholders, machinists continue to struggle with rising costs of living. Members of Seattle DSA have been there alongside them every step of the way and will continue to be. An injury to one is an injury to all!

Join us this Saturday at the Seattle pickets from noon to 6pm as we support our fellow workers in this historic fight! Members are encouraged to check in at 751’s Seattle local hall before heading to the picket lines or to help with support work at the hall. Do make sure to tell them you're DSA and proud to be there to show your solidarity!

Can't make the Saturday event but still want to help out? Swing by any of the locals throughout the week. Nightowls are requested but we strongly encourage you to attend in pairs at minimum if you'll be out late. Clean and dry fire wood is still requested as well as help with the support roles including kitchen and shuttle driving duties.

Locations for the union halls are:
Seattle - 9125 15th Pl S
Renton - 233 Burnett Ave N
Auburn - 201 A St SW

Sign up for more information about future picketing here: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/strike-ready-for-the-machinists

Socialist Educators Happy Hour

TONIGHT, 9/20, 6pm
Chucks Hop Shop (2001 E Union)

Educators from all over (Seattle, Renton, Highline, etc…) get together, chat politics, & share about struggles in their union. All union activists and socialists are welcome to attend!

Seattle Public Schools recently announced plans to close 20 Elementary schools starting in the 2025 school year. In one of the richest cities in the US, home to billionaires and some of the most profitable corporations in the world, this is an unacceptable and unconscionable attack on public education and our communities.

Join us for a discussion on how to fight back!
