Supporting Our Veterans
Wisconsin is home to over 330,000 veterans. As of 2022, veterans made up over 6% of the adult population in Wisconsin. This week, I helped pass eight bills in the House to ensure veterans in our community are receiving the benefits they've earned.
Ensuring that we support our veterans not only in word, but in action, is critically important. I'm proud to have helped these bills pass the House and will continue my work to support our veterans.
Keeping Politics Out of Your Retirement Savings
Millions of American families rely on institutional investors, including asset managers, investment advisors, and pension funds to save for retirement. Besides managing investments, these institutional investors also have authority to cast important votes on the management of the companies they invest in. In casting those votes, the institutional investors often follow the lead of two big firms, known as proxy advisors, on questions posed to shareholders. These are vitally important decisions that can have a massive impact on the future success of companies and on the success of investment and retirement plans. Unfortunately, despite the importance of these votes to the retirement plans of American families, proxy advisors and institutional investors have far too often put their political agendas ahead of sound investment decisions.
Institutional investors should not be using your retirement savings to advance their political agenda. However, time and again these firms, under the influence of the proxy advisor duopoly have been pushing American companies to adopt politically motivated environmental, social, and governance policies. This hurts retirement savings, workers, and our economy.
My bill, the Protecting Americans' Retirement Savings from Politics Act, passed the House yesterday as part of a package of retirement security reforms. This legislation helps ensure retirement and pension funds are being managed based on risks and returns, not political agendas. It is crucial we empower investors, restore transparency and accountability, and enhance competition. I'm proud to have led my legislation's passage through the House and look forward to it being considered in the Senate.
I addressed the importance of my bill on the House Floor and outlined how it will bring accountability and transparency to stop the politicization of retirement investments.

I also joined Bloomberg to discuss how this legislation will better protect hard-working Americans' hard-earned savings.

Bringing Security to Our Community
In the past four years, over 8.2 million illegal immigrants have come across our southern border. This has led to tragic consequences in our communities and has put the safety of our families at risk. Just this month, a member of a violent Venezuelan gang was arrested in Prairie du Chien for assaulting a woman and injuring a child after having a warrant issued for his arrest in Dane County.
The failure to enforce the United States' border laws and remove migrants who are here illegally has endangered our communities.
This week, I helped pass the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act. This legislation makes sure that sanctuary cities, counties, and states that provide taxpayer funded benefits to illegal immigrants are ineligible for federal funds to make these payments. American taxpayers shouldn't be forced to pay for the misguided and dangerous decisions of some communities.
Also this week, I helped pass the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act in the House of Representatives. This bill makes sure illegal immigrants who are convicted of, admit having committed, or admit committing sex offenses or domestic violence are inadmissible and deportable from the United States. Violence in our hometowns in unacceptable and more must be done to protect women and girls in our communities from dangerous predators.
I will continue fighting to defend hard-working Americans, secure the border, and reinstate rule of law.
My Week in Congress
County Executive David Crowley
It was good to see Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley to continue our work to bring KC-46 tankers to the Air National Guard's 128th Refueling Wing. We also discussed our efforts to create an international terminal at Mitchell Airport.
American Kidney Fund
Over 35 million Americans are currently living with kidney disease with millions more at risk. I'm committed to ensuring these Americans have access to the care they need at any point in the fight against kidney disease – from prevention to life post-transplant. Thank you to the American Kidney Fund for a great conversation as we continue this important work.
Armenian National Committee of Wisconsin
I was glad to speak with the Armenian National Committee of Wisconsin about the priorities of the Armenian-American community. Thank you to Azniv, and the rest of Armenian National Committee of Wisconsin for dropping by to discuss how the US and Armenia can work together to keep our nations safe.
On Wisconsin,
