Great news! President Joe Biden has approved Governor Lamont’s request for a major disaster declaration due to the historic rainfall and extreme flooding Southwestern Connecticut experienced on August 18, 2024.

This announcement means federal funding will be available to affected individuals in Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven Counties. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from storm-related damages.

If you are a resident or business owner who sustained losses in one of the designated areas, you can begin applying for assistance at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling (800) 621-3362, or by using the FEMA app.
