My parents came here to seek a better life for their family, just like so many others. As one of seven children and a first-generation American, I was raised on the values of hard work and resilience–lessons that have shaped every step of my journey.
As a labor attorney, I fought for workers who had been exploited and mistreated–people who were doing everything they could to provide for their families yet still struggling to make ends meet. But I knew more needed to be done.
That’s why I followed my sister’s footsteps and ran for Congress!
Since I was elected, I’ve fought for fair wages, affordable healthcare and housing, protecting Social Security and Medicare, reforming our tax code, and supporting small businesses–all with the goal of improving life for hardworking families like mine.
But I can’t do this alone. Extremists are actively working to cut these essential programs, strip workers of their rights, and roll back the progress we’ve fought so hard to make. We need to stand together.
