Today, we are delighted to spotlight another City of Justice Awards Honoree, Laurie Traktman. An accomplished labor lawyer and activist, Laurie Traktman has devoted her life to social justice and progressive causes.

As a partner at Gilbert & Sackman, a union-side law firm, Laurie works closely with management and labor trustees to protect the rights of union employees and their beneficiaries—winning landmark cases that protect worker benefits.

In addition to her legal work, Laurie was for twenty years the producer of the weekly radio show "The Lawyers Guild Hour" on KPFK (90.7 FM), served for almost three decades as Vice President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, served on the Board of the California Conservation Corps Foundation since 2010, and has served on LAANE’s Advisory Board since 2015.

Equally important to Laurie are her more personal efforts fighting for progressive causes and candidates—including three decades (and counting) raising funds for progressive city, county, state, and national office candidates as well as for ballot initiatives.
