Dear AFGE Activist,

The Women and Fair Practices Department is proud to announce that in the coming months, we will be launching our newest constituency group on behalf of Indigenous and Native Alaskan AFGE members.

We understand that Indigenous Americans and Native Alaskan federal and DC workers make up a significant portion of our membership here at AFGE. As the Women and Fair Practices Department, we address civil rights violations through member representation, education, and mobilization. It is for these reasons that over the next two months, we want to work directly with our membership to better understand how we can do our job on behalf of Indigenous and Native Alaskan members.

If you identify with either of these groups, or otherwise have experience or knowledge around the experiences of indigenous peoples, we want to work with you! We will ask that the group (20 individuals max) meet twice (once monthly) over the next two months to make plans for this group.

The AFGE Women and Fair Practices Department recognizes that Washington D.C., seat of the federal and D.C. governments and home to AFGE headquarters, sits on the traditional ancestral land of the Piscataway people, including the Nacotchtank (or Anacostan) peoples.
