The dangers of climate change are right here on our doorstep, John, and the time for action is now.
The past few months have been incredibly hot and dangerous. I had to declare emergencies for extreme heat and for wildfires ravaging our beautiful state. High temperatures and incredibly dry wildfire conditions are our new normal in the summer, as practically every year becomes the new hottest year on record.
That’s why my administration is serious about taking action to fight climate change and build community resilience. Investing in clean energy, public transportation, electric vehicles, and efficient heating and cooling for new housing will reduce carbon emissions statewide.
We’re also working to protect families from the harms of a changing climate, like wildfire smoke and record-breaking heat.
It’s essential that we do everything we can to combat climate change and protect our clean air, water, and natural resources. But I can’t take on this challenge alone. Will you add your name now to stand with me in the fight against climate change?
We are going to see more extreme heat, more frequent climate emergencies, rising ocean levels, and more challenges in the years to come. We can’t afford to sit on the sidelines – we need to take action now to combat the crisis.
Thank you.
