John, recent reporting tells a horrifying story unfolding right here in Georgia. At least two women have already died after they couldn’t access legal abortions and timely medical care.

Georgia’s recent abortion ban – signed by Gov. Brian Kemp and passed by the GOP-controlled state legislature – has deadly consequences. This case is just now being made public, but there are almost certainly more like it.

When I read this, my heart sank. I immediately thought back to my own experiences with pregnancy.

I’ve been open about suffering multiple miscarriages. What would have happened to me if I couldn’t access the healthcare I needed in those difficult moments?

It makes me furious to think that Republicans are unwilling to pass legislation to stop gun violence, but have no issue controlling women’s bodies.

The upcoming election has major consequences for our state. If we want to stop needless pain and death due to draconian abortion bans, we must elect Democrats at all levels of government to protect our reproductive rights.
