Friends, We recently shared how state regulations could be
adding up to $144,000 to the cost of a new home in our state. While politicians often emphasize the need for affordable housing, they
rarely check to see how their own policies are making prices higher.
Before 1990, regional authorities could quickly respond to local housing needs with flexible zoning and permitting. But the Growth Management Act
centralized control at the state level, creating one-size-fits-all regulations that have driven housing costs higher.
We’re still collecting feedback on whether Washington residents like you believe these
state-mandated rules are necessary. Should we cut the red tape to make homes more affordable, or keep the decisions in Olympia?
Have your say in our
poll: ⚪ YES: Cut the
red tape and lower housing costs. ⚪ NO: Let
Olympia make the decisions. Your opinion matters. Share your thoughts today and be part of the
solution to Washington’s housing crisis! Best
regards, Washington Policy Center |
