John,
If you’ve paid any attention to news about the presidential campaign this week, you’ve definitely come across the name Laura Loomer.
And, if you’re like us, you probably found yourself saying, “who the hell is Laura Loomer?"
The debate, a ceremony to honor victims of the 9/11 attacks – Laura Loomer was inseparable from Donald Trump last week.
So who is she?
Laura Loomer is a far-right influencer who ran for Congress (and lost) in 2020 and 2022. She has described herself as “pro-white nationalist” and a “proud Islamophobe.”
She has been banned from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for her inflammatory rhetoric. She’s also been removed from in-person events for harassment and causing disturbances.
Uber Eats even banned Loomer for insisting that her delivery driver not be a Muslim.
Loomer is so extreme that even some pro-Trump Republicans have expressed concern about her closeness to the former President.
In a mind-bending turn of events, far-right congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene even condemned Loomer’s racist statement that a Kamala Harris White House would “smell like curry.”
She has promoted the bizarre and dangerous conspiracy theory that immigrants are eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. She has claimed that President Joe Biden is dying and his final arrangements are being made. She has accused Democrats of controlling the weather to influence Republican primary elections (yes, seriously.)
In short, Laura Loomer is exactly the kind of person that COURIER was made to take on.
Laura Loomer lies, spreads hate, and sows division, especially online. Most importantly, she’s cozying up to Donald Trump because she thinks those are strategies that will help him turn out his base and win in 2024.
Laura Loomer operates on the social media platforms where misinformation spreads – but so does COURIER. While influencers like Loomer post lies and divisive rhetoric, COURIER publishes fearless, factual news that makes an impact.
