Let's talk off-script for a moment here, friend.
You may know me as Martin Sheen the actor, or President Jed Bartlet from The West Wing. Regardless, I'm reaching out to you now about a very real, non-fictional issue: The fate of our nation.
I'll explain more in a moment, but first, I need to ask: Will you donate $5 (matched to become $15) to defend our Senate majority and personally make a difference in the future of our country?
When I started my first term as President Bartlet on screen, it came at me more like a West Wind than anything -- feeling a bit stopped in my tracks by the potential of what we could create, as if we had discovered fire for the second time!
That same feeling is in the air right now. Something new, unique, and BOLD is just over the horizon.
Thousands of folks just like you are standing up to support Democrats who are ready to move this country forward, contributing ideas and new possibilities.
We can pull off something incredible in November -- I just know it. But I also know there's still plenty left to do. That's why I've talked with my good friends at the DSCC who are hard at work to protect and expand Democrats' Senate majority. Right now, a group of generous donors are personally tripling all gifts before midnight to defend the Senate. They're stepping up, so please, I'm personally asking: Will you contribute $5 (becomes $15) and triple the difference you can make today?
My time playing a president on The West Wing taught me what our government can look like: resilient, determined, and filled with hope.
That's exactly what I see in top Democrats like you now: The resilience to stand up for a democracy you believe in. The determination to mobilize yourself and join with grassroots supporters across the country. And hope for the future we build together today with this movement.
Friend, as we face the most important election of our lifetimes, we must never forget the power of unity. So please, will you stand with me today and donate $5 (matched to $15!) to defend our Democratic Senate majority and keep moving America forward? >>
Thank you,
Martin Sheen
