John,
When I was in the Marine Corps, I was trained to use the M16A4 assault rifle. In combat, this is a vital weapon, since its purpose is to kill as many enemies as possible, as quickly as possible. Its “civilian” and near-identical version is the AR-15 — which has become the weapon of choice for America’s mass shooters.
Over and over again, our nation's weak guns laws have enabled gunmen to use AR-15-style rifles to kill innocent people, including children. That includes the gun massares at Sandy Hook, Parkland, Aurora, Orlando, Las Vegas, El Paso, and so many more. As a combat veteran, I believe that these deadly weapons of war have no place in our communities.
First New Zealand — and now Canada — have shown us that it only takes courage and conviction on behalf of our elected leaders to ban these weapons, once and for all. Today, we have a better chance than we’ve had in over a decade to pass a federal assault weapons ban. But we need to keep the pressure up, and we need to fund this fight. I’m not going to ask for a lot, but we need to show strong grassroots support. Please, donate to Brady today and show that Americans — gun owners, veterans, parents, all united — demand legislative action to BAN assault weapons! >>
We can save innocent lives and prevent the mass shootings that wrack America.
Thank you,
