The latest on what's happening with right-of-center women   Weekly Wrap September 20, 2024 This Week's Highlights     Monday WFW AF-backed Alison Esposito (NY-18) highlighted a tragic incident in New York that left an NYPD officer shot and three others injured. Esposito is the daughter of a former NYPD police chief who served nearly 25 years in the NYPD herself. If elected, she will be a reliable vote to secure our border and back the brave men and women in law enforcement who keep our communities safe. Tuesday Rep. Michelle Steel (CA-45) is up with a new TV ad highlighting her work to protect survivors of sexual assault that features Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes. The ad comes at a time when her opponent, Democrat Derek Tran, is facing scrutiny over his legal career. POLITICO reports that his "client list includes a man who was fired after displaying a noose in his office and another accused of sexual assault." Wednesday WFW AF-endorsed Laurie Buckhout (NC-01) is running to flip a district that is a top GOP target after redistricting made it significantly more favorable for Republicans. The seat is currently held by vulnerable incumbent Democrat Don Davis, and a Buckhout victory would end Democrats' 141-year control of the eastern North Carolina district. Buckhout has an extremely impressive resume as a retired Army Colonel, decorated combat commander, and successful business owner. You can watch her new TV ad that she launched on Wednesday below. Thursday Earlier this week, The Associated Press exposed a Democrat-linked effort to recruit third-party candidates to siphon votes away from Republicans in key House races. The "Patriots Run Project" reportedly paid Democrat-aligned campaign firms to identify and recruit disabled and retired Trump supporters to run for Congress and then collected signatures to get them on the ballot. In Rep. Jen Kiggans' (VA-02) district, a widowed retiree was visited by a man in a Mercedes SUV who came to his home to drop off completed petition signature paperwork. The retiree, who does not even have a campaign website, will now appear on the November ballot. In Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ (IA-01) district, the group recruited an activist to run as an independent who is on disability for PTSD and does not live in the the district. The group then paid to gather signatures for her, but fell short.
