In January, we told you Virginia Democrats were on the verge of decriminalizing marijuana and asked if you supported the measure -- the result of our survey was an overwhelming “YES”!
John, we have some news:
The possibility of jail time for simple possession of marijuana has been taken off the table, with a new maximum civil penalty of just $25.
But there’s more: The legislature approved a commission to study how Virginia should go about legalizing and regulating marijuana in the future.
Elaine wants to hear your thoughts on this new development: Do you support the full legalization of marijuana?
While decriminalization at the state level is a critical step in the right direction, marijuana is still classified as a Schedule 1 controlled substance by the federal government.
From veterans managing their PTSD to cancer patients managing the painful side effects of chemotherapy -- millions of Americans are being denied a potentially life-changing treatment due to outdated marijuana laws.
Elaine is working with Congress to deschedule marijuana so patients aren’t denied the critical care they need. We want to hear what you think: Do you support legalizing marijuana at the federal level?
Thank you for taking the time to make your voice heard.
