We’re just 47 days out until Nov. 5, when we have opportunities across the state to elect conservation champions under new fair maps. Last night, I gave an election update at Green Tie Milwaukee where I said with new maps, we have real competition, real democracy.

Now that our endorsements are set, I want to introduce you to several of the candidates we believe will be conservation champions when they’re elected to the state legislature. I’ll be sending an email each week to tell some of the stories of this election.

Meet LuAnn Bird for Assembly District 61

LuAnn Bird has spent decades bringing people in her community together to solve problems. She’s tackled tough challenges like bringing sewer services to our neighborhoods, supporting veteran services, and making school buildings more accessible to people with disabilities. There’s nobody more equipped to solve Wisconsin’s biggest challenges. Let’s send LuAnn Bird to Madison on Nov. 5.

Protecting our drinking water

LuAnn Bird knows that all families should have access to clean, safe drinking water. From cancer-causing forever chemicals like PFAS to lead pipes, LuAnn will work hard to improve our infrastructure and clean up these pollutants making sure every Wisconsinite can trust the water coming out of their tap.

Bringing down costs by supporting clean energy

Dirty fossil fuels are hurting the environment while oil and gas companies are gouging us to make a profit. LuAnn Bird knows we can produce affordable, clean energy right here in our community that will create good paying jobs, keep costs down, and protect the environment. 

Strengthening our democracy 

Some politicians would rather spread misinformation, rig and abuse the rules for their own personal power, and undermine the public’s trust in our democracy. LuAnn Bird will fight for a democracy that is resilient and thriving for generations to come.

Leading with Wisconsin values

We don’t need another politician fueling partisan divides; we need somebody who will focus on the things we have in common. LuAnn Bird knows that when we come together as a community, we can accomplish big things.

As I said last night at Green Tie Milwaukee, I’m so excited about the moment we’re in right now. Each cycle we’ve worked hard to gain every inch.
