John,
There’s a lot in CNN’s latest story on North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson that I will not repeat nor give life to. His actions are nothing short of abhorrent, despicable, and downright bigoted.
But, I think it’s important we discuss the crux of why Mark Robinson should never become Governor of North Carolina — or hold any level of office again, for that matter.
Mark Robinson proclaimed “I’m a Black NAZI!” and stated “Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it (slavery) back. I would certainly buy a few.”
In a series of posts, he disparaged the Black leaders who paved the way for equality and even made it possible for him, a Black man, to hold a position of leadership. And John, this is barely scraping the surface of the egregious comments he made.
Mark Robinson should be ashamed of himself, and step down immediately. We have zero room for hatred and racism in our government, and I condemn Mark Robinson to the utmost degree.
As your Congresswoman, and as a Black woman, I’m here to tell you that you deserve better from your representatives at all levels — from school boards, to Congress, to your Governor. I’m fighting for a future where representation is rooted in progress and inclusivity for all, and I could really use your support, John. Will you consider pitching in $5 or any amount today to my re-election campaign and help keep bigotry out of our government?
We deserve better.
Thank you,
Valerie
