John,

I won’t sugarcoat this; things are scary in a lot of ways due to right-wing extremism. We can turn things around, but I am asking that you pay attention to this message so we have a fighting chance.

Right now, in Springfield, Ohio, a community is being torn apart by hateful rhetoric and baseless accusations targeting Haitian immigrants.

Schools and government buildings have been shut down due to bomb threats. A cultural festival was canceled over safety concerns. Haitian families are terrified to leave their homes, with some considering fleeing altogether.

This crisis didn't materialize out of thin air. It started with unfounded rumors on social media, now completely retracted by their originators, claiming Haitian immigrants were eating pets. These lies were amplified by the likes of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, spreading harmful narratives to millions.

J.D. Vance straight up ADMITTED that he made this up in a recent interview with CNN.

A GIF of J.D. Vance appearing on CNN with Dana Bash. In the clip Vance says, “If I have to create stories so that American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people then that’s what I’m gonna do.”

If this sounds familiar, it's because we've seen this playbook before – including right here in Idaho.

Just two years ago in Coeur D'Alene, 31 members of a white nationalist group were arrested as they planned an apparent armed attack on a local Pride event.

This came on the heels of MONTHS of far-right influencers and politicians spreading false, inflammatory stories about LGBTQ+ people. Our community faced threats and intimidation, with many expressing concerns for their safety.

A screenshot of a Southern Poverty Law Center headline that says, “Far-Right Influencers Hyped Coeur D’Alene Pride Before Patriot Front Showed Up.

The parallels are clear and deeply troubling. From Idaho to Ohio, and all across America we're witnessing how quickly online hate and rhetoric from rally stages can turn into real-world danger.

But we're not powerless. We can fight back by driving these extremists out of power. That's why I'm running for Congress in Idaho's 2nd district. We need leaders who will strongly denounce hate and misinformation, stand firmly with targeted communities, and work to bridge divides.

Your support is crucial in this fight. With your help, we can counter extremist narratives with messages of unity and truth, reach more voters with our vision of a stronger, more inclusive America, and implement policies that protect vulnerable groups.

This isn't just about politics - it's about the safety and well-being of our neighbors. It's about the kind of community we want to live in. Together, we can show that Idaho stands for truth and compassion. Will you stand with me? Your donation of $25, $50, $75, $100, or whatever fits your budget will help us combat this wave of hate and build a better future for all Idahoans.

The threats we're seeing are NOT isolated incidents - they're part of a dangerous national trend. We HAVE to stand up for seats like ID-02 and create a firewall of democracy in the House.

Thank you for standing with me!

-David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
