The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is one of the most significant anti-democratic religious and political movements of our time. Unsurprisingly, NAR and adjacent groups are playing an outsized role in public life.

This influence came to the fore in Pennsylvania with the 2022 gubernatorial campaign of State Senator Doug Mastriano, which generated major coverage from Salon.com, The New Yorker, PBS station WHYY, and more. Since then, we have seen how Pennsylvania apostle Abby Abildness has played a quietly significant role in public life, and was a focus of major stories in The Atlantic magazine, Bucks County Beacon, and Mother Jones.

In this colloquium style webinar discussion and Q&A session, several expert writers and researchers on the NAR will examine the role that the NAR has played in Pennsylvania, an important case study for the threat to democracy posed more broadly by this movement.
