The news out of Lebanon has been
horrifying. Over the course of two days, ordinary electronic devices
like pagers and walkie-talkies that Israel rigged into explosive
devices have killed dozens and injured thousands more. Among the dead
are 9 year-old Fatima Abdullah and 11 year-old
Bilal Kanj, two more precious children snatched away by the murderous
rampage of Israel’s rogue, genocidal regime.
The media headlines all referred to
“explosions” but none dare call it by its real name –
terrorism. Just imagine if the tables had been turned
and Israelis - or Americans - were turned into unwitting bombers with
everyday electronic devices being detonated in crowded civilian areas;
we’d be overwhelmed with hand-wringing over such a bloodthirsty attack
with vows to seek vengeance upon the terrorists responsible for the
carnage. But as always, the U.S. media is running cover for Israel’s
war crimes.
Beyond the wanton killing and
maiming of innocents, the implications of this operation are truly
chilling. As NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden said on X:
“If it were iPhones that
were leaving the factory with explosives inside, the media would be a
hell of a lot faster to cotton on to what a horrific precedent has
been set today. Nothing can justify this. It's a crime. A crime. And
everyone in the world is less safe for it.”
Kamala Harris has repeatedly said
that she is “working tirelessly for a ceasefire” but her words ring
hollow as Israel keeps escalating and dragging us closer every day to
a regional war in the Middle East that could turn into
WWIII.
