John,
What does a presidential campaign have to do with a Dallas ballot proposition? A whole darn lot, when it comes to motivating voters.
Ground Game Texas spent thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars to put marijuana reform on the November 5 ballot in the city of Dallas. We did this for several reasons — to promote criminal justice reform; to build a massive database of voter contact information; and to give local residents a reason to vote.
Now, a full year after we started work, our efforts are bearing fruit. Not only have we qualified for the ballot, but we’ve created an opportunity for Ground Game and allied organizations to conduct a massive get out the vote campaign.
Ground Game gathered tens of thousands of phone numbers and email addresses from infrequent voters through our marijuana reform petition campaign. Chip in $25 or more today so we can get these voters to the polls, and help Democrats up and down the ballot.
John, at this time in the election cycle, it’s all about “GOTV” — getting out the vote. In Dallas, a number of Democratic organizations and allied nonprofits are knocking doors, talking to voters, and explaining what’s on the ballot. And with Ground Game’s marijuana petition on the ballot — Proposition R — we’ve given them a new tool to catch voters’ attention.
Our partners have asked us to print tens of thousands of pieces of campaign literature for the Proposition R campaign. They are also using our list of petition signers to focus their voter outreach. Now we just need to raise a few thousand dollars more to print as many flyers as our partners can distribute.
Can you contribute to our Prop. R campaign today? Every $100 helps us print 500 more flyers. And the votes for our measure will also be votes for Democrats up and down the ticket.
We couldn't do this without you. Thanks for all your support!
